Monkey job funs
I’ve heard 1st time this sentence when started my career as a manager in 2004. I worked closely with business owners, so closely, that I could easily use their private driver if I needed to meet with partners. I remember that CEO was always talking to sales team stop filling out excel spreadsheets and call to the client, ask him about his needs, help to fix them (means sell more).
After that expirience I moved to a bigger city and had the same business goal-driven approach to any deal I was doing. I've changed fully my career path 4 times (being sales, marketing executive, buyer for retail, IT project manager) and this approach always worked.
Not sure what happened for the last year, probably I did wrong choice on decision with whom to work but I see more and more monkey job funs around, who are focusing on papers, building network, ideal code when its not needed, etc. For sure, some monkey work is necessary for any business, but it’s just a tool on your way to the business result.
